Yes. Dogs are welcome in the Green Yurt, which keeps two large dog beds under the bunks. Keep dogs off the couch and beds, and shake the dog beds out outside before you leave.

Crooked River Road closes to cars in the snowy season, so the last 3.3 miles are on skis, snowshoes or a snowmobile. Park on the east side of the Whoop-Um-Up Park N' Ski lot on Highway 21 (buy the pass from Idaho Parks and Recreation before you go), take the Pilgrim Trail north 0.8 miles, then head east on Crooked River Road (NF-384) past mile marker 3 until the valley opens into the meadow. In the warm season, yes. Take Highway 21 north from Boise past Idaho City and Mores Creek Summit, turn right on NF-384 (Crooked River Road, the Edna Creek Campground turnoff) and follow the graded gravel road about 3 miles. The yurts are on the right, about 50 yards off the road. Allow about 90 minutes from Boise.

Check-in is from 2 PM and checkout is by noon.

Sleeping bags or bedding (none is provided; the memory foam mattresses have covers), drinking water or a plan to boil river water or snow, food, propane for the cooktop (or cook on the wood stove in the cold season), fire starter such as newspaper or cardboard, and in winter your skis, snowshoes or snowmobile. Guests also suggest house shoes: the floor gets cold in winter.

No. The sink is gravity-fed from a water pot you fill with river water or snow and heat on the wood stove. Bring water to a rolling boil for at least a minute before drinking it. Gray water goes in the marked disposal pipe outside.

Neither. You handle your own navigation, and a satellite messenger such as a Garmin inReach is a good idea.

Yes, the yurts are guest-cleaned. Follow the checklist in the Yurt Manual, pack out your trash, and take checkout photos of the stove area, the kitchen, the toilet and the whole room from the door.

Yes. Each yurt sleeps eight at most, children included. Families tow little ones in on a pulk in winter, and a travel crib is kept in the sauna building, first come, first served.

No. One wood-fired sauna is shared by the three yurts. It takes about an hour to heat, and swimsuits or clothing are required.

A wood stove heats it. Once the room is up to temperature, a banked stove holds it about 40°F above the outside air overnight; feed it through the night to keep it warmer. Solar panels on the porch roof run the lights and the fridge.

No. Outdoor fires and burning deadfall are not allowed. The wood stove inside is yours, with wood stocked under the yurt.
